A Wedding Present for Andree-Anne + Ben

Speaks volumes for itself, doesn't it?  This is part of a painting I was recently commissioned to do  for a wedding present. The full phrase "Where you invest your LOVE You invest your LIFE" is from the song "Awake My Soul" by Mumford and Sons, this is the song the couple it is intended for fell in love to. It is always fun to see which creatures appear in the swirling ground. The dryad in the "I" was particularily clear and insistant.

Hum 'n Awe

Blood Flow (a poem)

One Grandmother built bombs

while the other prayed.

Both of their mothers knew abandonment

when it came to land

and their mothers.

Connections were broken.

Flow dammed up

backed up and up and away.

As their blood dries

Their stories fade

into the shadows of my body.

The resonance I carry

and can tune

by seeking harmony with

the past of all

Herstories.

I let my blood flow down

and it dismantles those ancient dams

so that I will not be bogged down

and soggy with secrets

or hungry ghosts.

My ancestors will nourish me.

Ignite in me the will to shine a light

on the fantastic future

Their hearts have secretly

always desired.

Lately I've been doing some collage, so much fun. All I care about, with regards to my art, is Imagination 

and flexing it like a muscle.

 

My Eye Land

I'm leaving my new island home for a few months and heading back to my tower for the fire season. Last week I went to one of my favorite beaches and now I'd like to share my visions from there with you. I Love this place. I Love this life. Enjoy.

















I wish everyone I know, and everyone I have shared my life with (especially my friends on Pender) a fantastic summer full of fun, adventure and lovely luscious growth.
